Gymkhana
California State Horsemen’s Association Region 4 Gymkhana program covers the counties of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne. We even have riders from Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado Counties.

The goal of our Gymkhana program is to promote the sport while making it economically available to as many competitors as possible. Sportsmanship and Horsemanship are equally stressed.
Our Average Time Divisions system has a division for every competitor no matter the rider or horse’s age and/or ability. Slow, fast, in between, new or experienced -- everyone can compete and win. Competitors need not spend a lot of money in order to be competitive. Division 1 (fastest) to Division 7 (slowest) and Open allow you to compete against riders/horses at your same level.
The program offers all competitors the same potential for rewards and recognition.
We offer a leadline class which is run at the beginning of every show (leadline starts @ 8:30). Leadliners may also compete for year end awards.
Our State Championship Show (SCS) is held the week that contains the second full weekend in October - this year it will be held October 9-12, 2025. At the Gymkhana State Championship Show riders compete in nine events over three days for the coveted title of CSHA State Champion. To qualify, competitors must register in a Region program and compete at a minimum number of Region Approved Point shows.
Riders between the ages of 14 and 18 can also apply and compete for our $1,000 higher education scholarship.
Come join us for family fun where friendships are made.
You are NOT required to be a member of CSHA or Region 4 in order to ride at our shows. But, if you want to compete for either a year end award and/or attend the State Championship Show, you must complete the attached forms for your shows to count (no retroactivity).
We currently have 12 shows scheduled this season at the following arenas(see attached 2025 Show Calendar):
* Ed Hughes Memorial Arena in Ione;
* Hearts Desire Ranch in Manteca;
* Diamond Bar Arena in Ceres;
* Clements Buckaroo Arena in Clements.
